Natural Shower Curtains

So Well Natural Shower Curtains Made with Cotton Fabric

Cotton Fabric Natural Shower Curtains

Hand-crafted here in the USA of durable and beautiful cotton duck fabric bleached in environmentally friendly hydrogen peroxide, with rustproof nickel plated brass grommets or natural unbleached.  The curtain will stop water from spraying outside your shower without a plastic liner. This keeps unnatural plastics out of our landfills. The shower curtain will get wet, but will not leak through. The cotton shower curtain will rapidly air dry which helps prevents mold growth associated with plastic liners.

The curtain’s natural cotton duck fabric is not organically grown but is processed without chlorine bleach, dyes and finishes normally used in the industry. We use 7 oz cotton duck because it is lighter weight, allowing it to dry more quickly. This also leaves it slightly transparent.

The cotton shower curtain resists mildew and mold by drying quickly and not trapping moisture against the inside of the tub like plastic liners do. After showering simply spread the curtain out so air can dry it, try not to leave it gathered at one end of the tub.

This curtain does not have the annoying property of billowing out towards the shower spray like lightweight plastic liners do.

Using your Cotton Shower Curtain demonstrates your concern for our planet’s environment by reducing chemical and plastic use, reducing landfill mess, as well as beautifying your bathroom environment by bringing nature into your everyday life.

Size: 72 x 74 inches and designed to shrink to fit.

Care Instructions: When washing the shower curtain, set washing machine to gentle and cold and hang to dry to minimize shrinkage.  If you are intentionally shrinking the shower curtain, start washing with cold water, and hang to dry.  The hotter the water, the more it will shrink.  Drying in a machine is not recommended, as this could lead to excess shrinkage.  If you are going to use a dryer, set it on low heat and leave in for a very short period of time before hang drying it.

Note: These curtains are NOT guaranteed against mildew. With heavy use the curtain can stay wet and mildew like any other surface. At the first sign of mildew the curtain needs to be washed and dried thoroughly to prevent staining.

Why We Choose to Offer These Earth Friendly Natural Shower Curtains

In their recently published study, ‘Volatile Vinyl: The New Shower Curtain’s Chemical Smell’, The Center for Health, Environment & Justice reports that PVC-containing shower curtains can emit more than 100 chemicals in the air. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) shower curtains contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds), phthalates, lead, and organotins. These chemicals can damage the respiratory system, liver, kidney, central nervous system, and have been connected to diseases such as cancer. For women, phthalates have been linked to reproductive problems that include a shortened pregnancy and premature breast development.  For men, the chemicals can damage sperm and other male reproductive functions. The study also revealed that heat and moisture cause the chemicals to be released in the air where they can be inhaled. Another study conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency showed that plastic shower curtains can emit toxic compounds into the air.

The best remedy for removing such a toxic threat from your home is to replace your curtain PVC shower curtain with a natural eco-friendly shower curtain.
